I always felt you don’t need to get that emotionally attached to the patient in order to be a good nurse. You can live your life separate from your job. That’s not what I told my aunties boss who hired me. Nepotism is great if it works in your favour and it worked in mine just peachy. 

She never wanted to be a nurse but her aunt was one and she promised her she would continue where she left off. Her aunt isn’t dead. At least she hopes not. Just retired. Aunt Sophie really cared about her patients. Really took her time and made sure she did a good and thorough job. She was sympathetic to their friends and families too. That’s why she was always invited to their funerals. Not all her patients died but as it goes with the territory most sick people get sicker
